Our Participation in Research
We firmly believe that research is the foundation for health care excellence and an important investment in the future of our patients. Our physicians are leaders in introducing advances in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology techniques to clinical practice. We provide eligible patients with opportunities to participate in national and international clinical research studies, which are conducted under the supervision of a dedicated Minnesota Gastroenterology research team. Our patients are some of the first to receive new therapies and treatments, many of which are available only through clinical research trials. Our contributions to research have been diverse, including participation in studies for colon cancer prevention, inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, hepatitis, Barrett's syndrome and liver disease. Minnesota Gastroenterology physicians and patients have access to emerging GI technologies, due in large part to our large patient base, highly trained personnel and well-equipped facilities. Examples of new technology used by our practice include the BRAVO pH capsule, HALO ablation of Barrett's esophagus, pill cam, video capsule endoscopy and FibroScan.
Our Commitment to Education
We support medical education for our colleagues, for the community at large and for our own professional development. Our doctors participate in hospital-sponsored clinical conferences and courses, physician meetings and teaching engagements.
Minnesota Gastroenterology physicians have clinical faculty appointments at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and are actively engaged in teaching medical students, residents and gastroenterology fellows in the Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics and Family Practice. Teaching sites include Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, St. John's Hospital and Minnesota Gastroenterology outpatient clinics. Our physicians also participate in formal post-graduate programs sponsored by the University.
Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) for Endoscopy
Our goal is to provide patients with the safest and most comfortable endoscopic procedure possible. That is why have an entire team of anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists as an intregral part of the Minnesota Gastroenterology organization. This approach allows our gastroenterologists to provide the highest quality patient care during each and every endoscopic procedure.
Minnesota Gastroenterology has a full service, in-house pathology laboratory to expedite biopsy diagnosis and reporting for patients, their families and referring providers.
Hospital and Inpatient Services
